Lost Left Sock Shop

Identity system across media types.

Student Project

The Lost Left Sock Shop is the place where people who feel like something’s missing go to find what they’ve lost in the washer and dryer. Whether you are looking for a missing sock or pocket change, you will find it here in bulk. We are located in the heart of Highland Park, where things have been known to magically disappear. At the Lost Left Sock Shop, we believe that everyone deserves a place where they feel like they belong.

The logo uses the L’s of the ‘Lost’ and ‘Left’ into abstract socks. The colors are colors that you can’t wash together; warm and cool, light and dark, red and white.

George’s missing sock is single and ready to meet its perfect mismatch. However, when that spark of static cling is gone, use the sock buddy system to help keep your socks together.

Every journey needs a lovable companion, and who better than the spotless leopard. Learn his story and help him regain his spots with the included spot pen.

Bill lost his credit card again, and as a reward for finding it, he’ll get you something nice. Why not get your pocket change cleaned and dried, now at the priceless value of $1.

The store is unique in that it has 2 separate doors into the shop. I used that in the storytelling on the store, having the facade be a washer and dryer setup complete with dials and a lint trap. In the floor plan, I laid it out that as if it was a journey, where you meet your traveling companion, stock up on supplies, travel up the mountains of socks, and end it finding what you’ve been missing.

Poster series shows one for the Grand Opening, a call to action for tutors, and an event at the store called the "Weekly Finds". My idea was to take the concept of mismatched socks and use that to symbolize all of these different identities within the store and create a quilt-like design, representing the strength of the community.

The website is for aspiring volunteers, the community of parents, students and tutors, and then the shop visitors. The pages show the homepage, navigation, programs, calendar, and the volunteer signup.

The app is for tutors to keep track of students and update parents on their progress, as well as keeping track of hours they've worked and their next appointments.

Along with advertising events and products, the social media features student’s writings each month in the #CompanionSpotlight, as well as encouraging customers to be more involved by showcasing their mismatched sock pairings in #MismatchedMonday.
